Nature Connecting Cards
The Nature Connecting Cards invite you to respond to your intuitive self, to quite simply choose a card through the process of “noticing one” from this deck of 42 cards. Choose the image that most resonates in the present moment, the idea being that new understandings arise as you connect with the nature images either on your own or with others, in nature or in reflecting upon nature, as a spiritual practice, or as part of a counseling practice guided by someone else.
On the front of each card is a photographic image—Ian McAllister, co-founder of Pacific Wild (a Canadian charity focused on the conservation of the Great Bear Rainforest and the BC coast, www.pacificwild.org) renowned wildlife photographer, author, and award-winning filmmaker donated photographs for this project. Michael McMillan and Pippa Walker traveled the entirety of BC and up into Yukon by foot, bike, ferry, and car, and also donated an array of evocative photographs for this deck of nature cards.
The companion guidebook offers method suggestions for using the cards. You will find four questions on the back of each card that act as prompts for igniting personal reflections and new insights. A Connect activity follows the series of questions on the back of each card where the activities become an invitation to connect further with your experience of engaging with nature. To reach out and feel the texture of the moss on a tree. Dip your hand in a nearby running creek. Listen into the soundscape. Connecting in nature is a form of communion where the moments of wonder can be truly transformative.
